Phoenix is a truly sensitive child. I wonder at times if he had been an only child or even the youngest child how much more difficult life would have been for him. He is blessed to have two strong brothers close in age who he can take strength from. I wonder sometimes if he will ever have the confidence and the social ability to make it when his brothers are no longer by his side? But I know God has a plan for this special little boy.
Last night Phoenix (for no reason) decided to write a poem. It is a lovely poem all about winter and I proudly asked him to read it to his dad. Phoenix became very jittery, unsure, started licking his lips and saying it wasn't good enough. Finally he read the poem with much uncertainty and glowed with happiness as we clapped and praised at the end. Honestly the whole thing broke my heart. He has such talent and creativity but he is so afraid of doing something wrong he becomes scared to even try.
This morning Phoenix got ready for school without any issues whatsoever, actually the past few school days have been rather uneventful. But this morning he was doing fine until we actually got into the car...then he says "Mom is this Tuesday?" When I tell him it is indeed Tuesday he starts crying "I hate school on Tuesday". Turns out Tuesday is P.E. day and little Phoenix isn't really athletic being skinny and awkward. He was turned inside out over P.E. day and all that it encompassed. How hard it must be to be Phoenix. So intelligent, beautiful and creative but so unsure and scared of the world. I hope with God we can help him to become more self-assured and take the fear out of my precious boy.

My brother was a very sensitive child and not athletic. Unfortunately, our father was and he just happened to be our P.E. teacher in elementary school. I know it was hard and made things rather strained between them, but one day when my brother was in second grade he was playing checkers with my dad and he won! Just that little confidence boost allowed my brother to strive and strive he did. He graduated with Honors from high school and college and has a great job in a large well known company.
Thank you! It helps to hear that! Phoenix is good at so many things but I know one day he will find that one thing that he is so good that it will make him soar! God will provide! In the meantime I guess my job is just to encourage and support him in his efforts.
